Big Flowers

Good Evening...Before I start doing more samples this evening I thought I would blog two of the cards from last months Claritystamp show.

The first was a tall card and used the flower stencil and grunge paste. I did this on a piece of centura pearl using the matt side. I let the grunge paste dry then replaced the stencil and spritzed it with dylusion spays masking off sections to get the colours where I wanted them. I brushed the background lightly and then used the sentiment stamps and the blank line in the corners.

The next card was again done on the reverse side of centura pearl card and this time I used Sparkle medium to create the flower. Once it had dried I used promarkers to colour it!

I then used distress ink to do the background and a bit of spritzing ...not too near the flower...to get the speckled look.

I then stamped the Morning has broken hymn onto a piece of theuva card and added some ink. I did spritz this but you need to be quick to blot it as the card seems to soak up the water and change the texture.
Anyway here it is completed.

I hope you have enjoyed looking...leave me a comment here if you can please.

A few hops and an Oasthouse!

Good morning to you all!
Today some of you are lucky enough to be going to the second day of the Clarity open Day. I would have been there if I didn't have to work yesterday but I am not able to choose when I take my holidays unfortunately. So I will just have to have a play-day on my own! It will make me feel better and I will be there in spirit with all the rest of the team who are down there. I will be doing Clarity DT stuff and starting my next samples!

I thought though I would show you two cards I did for the last clarity show using the Oast House set. I do like this set....the hops make a beautiful border and the little trees are so useful in scene building. The Oast house itself is fabulous and really does look like the real thing!

The first one I did with a bit of thinking outside the box. I wanted to get right away from scene building and decided to do a pattern instead using the 3 stamps from the set. I stamped the Oast house then turned the card 90 degrees then did it again until I had 4 stamped forming a square in the centre. I filled this square using the trees and then on the outside I linked the Oast houses together using the hops. I then coloured them all with Promarkers and brushed the corners with brown ink. The topper was matted onto gold then brown craft card then onto an 8 x 8 card blank. I stuck 4 gold card candy in the corners.

For the next card I used UTEE and mica powders to create a tile then stamped into it with the stamps. I had used brown craft card to do this onto to give the background some colour. The mica was added to the final layer of UTEE and it sinks into it as it is melted. The stamps were inked up in brown archival ink before they were stamped into the UTEE

Here is the tile.

I then mounted this on to gold mirri card then on brown card before it was put on to a 6 x 6 card blank.

Here is the finished card

I hope you enjoyed looking at today's cards.
Have a good weekend.

A bit of Fantasy

Good Evening...another busy day and one that I am glad is over to be honest!
Anyway here is a card I did for the last Clarity Show using the wooden horse stamp!
As soon as I saw the stamp this one screamed out to me to be done and it gave me an opportunity to use my new pink WOW embossing powder. I did the image first and then using a versamark pen I drew the horn and then embossed that! I then coloured the image in 4 different pink promarker pens. I added a background using theabstract squares 2 and the flower stencil in pink ink that was on my clarity stencil brushes...they hold ink so well sometimes its all you need.

I then stamped the two words in Pink and mounted the card onto pink spotty paper and onto a small card. I then used my quickie glue pen and added shimmer dust to the words.

If you drop by let me know what you think

Heavy Horses

Good Afternoon folks!
I have had a very trying day so I thought I would chill and blog a card for you that I made for the last Clarity Shows. I do like this horse and plough set...I brings to mind one of my favourite songs by Jethro Tull...Heavy Horses. The lyrics are just lovely and this stamp fits the words just perfectly!
Here is a link to the song ....Have a listen and see if you agree!

Anyway I did a Gelli Background using the Abstract Squares 1 and then in the aperture I created the scene using the large horse stamp, ploughed field stencil and also the Cottage and hedge set. The image was coloured using promarkers.
I used the sentiment at the bottom and then carried on the line with a fineliner to edge the background and create a frame.

Hope you like it.

God Speed the Plough.

Well good afternoon to you all! I hope you are all having a lovely Saturday! I have nothing planned this weekend so I thought I would drop in a blog post for you of of one of my last samples. It used the 'God Speed the Plough set and the Abstract Squares 1 Stencil. I also used the trees from the Oasthouse set.

I started off creating a Gelli Background using pale blue acrylic paint and scrunched up paper for the first layer. I blotted out a lot of the paint from the centre. I then did the next layer using bronze paint and the stencil which I blotted. I left this to dry then added a buff titanium layer of paint which I blotted with Scrunched up paper then added the small piece of card and then pulled the print. I think it gave a distressed look to the background and I had a nice aperture to create a scene.

I used the ploughed field stencil and the silhouette stamp of the man and plough. I also added the small trees form the Oasthouse set to complete the scene. Adding shade through the stencil to areas of the field really brought it to life. I also brushed ink around the white border to soften it!

I mounted it onto a piece of brown cordinations card that had a blue core and sanded it back to show this then onto an 8 x 8 blank card.
I stamped the sentiment onto a separate piece of card and added some ink to tie it in with the main picture. This was added to the finished card with foam pads and a couple of roses on each side finished it off.

I hope you like it.
All the items I used and be found on the ClarityStamp Website.

Have a great weekend what ever you are doing.

Three dimensional Glasses!

Well that has been a hard week! But its over and I can't really complain as it's passed without too much grief...just hard work on everyone's part!

It feels an age since the last Clarity Programme but it isn't a full week yet! So I will take this opportunity to post one of the samples I did for the show.!

It came about by a bit of a fluke really. I was playing with my Gelli plate and the new stencils to create backgrounds for my samples and I used the abstract squares stencil and a blotted it with a piece of A4 paper I then pulled a print and then did it again ion a different colour and blotted it on the same A$ paper....this was the inspiration I needed for this card!  I cleaned off the gelli and loaded it up with purple paint flicked a bit of water at it to add a bit of texture. I placed the stencil on it and then without removing the stencil I
pulled the print. I removed the stencil and pulled the ghost print.
I then loaded the gelli again this time with turquoise pain. Again I flicked a little water at it and added the stencil turning it one quarter turn and then pulled the print. I pulled the ghost print too!
That gave me two background prints.

I felt the first print I had done didn't need much to make it into a card other than a sentiment and what other word could I use but  'Inspire'. I stamped this in Black then found two colours similar to my paint colours....purple twilight and Stream and stamped the word again moving it slightly down each time to create a shadow! I mounted the print on to a purple card then onto a white 8 x 8 blank card. I cut the sentiment into an arrow and edged it with faux stitching then added this to the card....Job done! Martyn presenting the show seemed to like it and said it looked like you needed 3 D glasses to look at it!

Here is the finished card. Let me know what you think.

It's a man thing!

Well Good morning to you all. Barbara is on the telly in a bit but I want to share with you the card I did for this months Clarity Challenge. The new theme of the challenge is Masculine and with Fathers Day coming up really soon it's a time when we can all think about those special men in our lives.

Last month we had some stunning entries ....you keep on coming up with such great entries....and well done to the winner. I hope you enjoy spending your prize and look forward to seeing what you do with it! Well done also to the top five...it gets harder every month to choose these.

Anyway back to this month and here is my card.

I wanted to use things I hadn't used in a while so I decided to get the alcohol inks out and used orange and green and a touch of gold. I added random dots of these to my felt applicator and dabbed it all over the card. It was a bit bright on the first run but I added some blending solution and that toned it down. I then left it to dry.
Whilst that was drying I did the background on the blank card using the crackle stamp and the Sunset stencil I think it gave a nice random feel to the background.
I then turned my attention to the toppers. I cut one piece of the card I had done to a 12 x 12 cm square and another piece to 12 x 5.5 cm. on the smaller piece I stamped the sentiment Be the change in to the centre then surrounded it with the NDC fossil stamp. On the larger piece I randomly stamped the NDC fossil stamp in first and second generation black archival ink turning card so the stamp was not always the same way. I blotted this well then left it to dry properly.
I rounded the corners on both parts of the topper then matted them on to gold again rounding the corners then onto black card. I left the corners square on this. I arranged the toppers and attached the one with the sentiment on with foam pads to give it some dimension.

Here is the completed card. I hope you like it.

Why don't you have a hop over to the other DTs cards and projects? If you click on their projects it will take to over to their blogs...go on ...you know you want to.
Oh and don't forget to enter the challenge..there is a prize of £50 worth of Clarity Vouchers for the winner who will be selected randomly form all the entries. It could be you!
